In 1931, Pierce Arrow rolls with an electric motor of Tesla It is said, in quite informed mediums that Tesla, however with the retirement a car propelled by the energy of the field of gravity built and whose patents were refused by the Patent-office. In 1930, Tesla required of its nephew to come to New York. Petar Savo, (Sava Kosanovitch) had been born in 1899. This young Yugoslavian had known difficult living conditions in his country. During the summer 1931 the economic depression was deep. Tesla, then old seventy years, took along its nephew to Buffalo, to reveal and test a new car built on its personal finances. Tesla had means, which, although not being those promised originally by its contracts with Westinghouse, had allowed him this realization. It was Pierce Arrow, a luxurious car of this time which had been put at the shelter a farm, not far from the falls of the Niagara.

One had removed from it the engine without touching with the clutch, neither with the gear box nor to the transmission with the aft wheels. The petrol engine had been replaced by an electric motor completely closed, cylindrical, from approximately 1 meter length and 65 cm in diameter, provided with a ventilator of cooling to the front one. What one says, it did not have there a distributor. Tesla did not want to say which had manufactured this engine, but it probably acted of a department from Westinghouse. The receiver of energy (gravitational converter of energy) had been manufactured per Tesla itself. The case of the converter measured approximately 60 X 25 X 15 cm and was installed in front of the dashboard. The converter contained, inter alia, 12 vacuum tubes including 3 of 70-L-7 type. A heavy antenna, approximately 1,8 m length left there. It seems that its function was identical to that of the converter of Moray. Moreover, two large stems left approximately 10 cm of the case of the converter. Tesla pushed them while saying: "Now, we have energy." The engine turned to the maximum to 1800 turns per minute and needed a ventilator to be cooled. Tesla added that the converter was sufficiently powerful to also light, moreover, a whole house. The tests lasted one week. The 130 km per hour were reached without sorrow, the data of the performances being comparable with those of the cars with gasoline. With a stop, a passer by noticed that no gas left the tailpipe, and Petar says to him: "We do not have an engine! " A few months after these tests, and because of the economic crisis, Pierce Arrow, stopped its production. It is very probable that connection between electric motor and transmission had been carried out in this company. Studebaker, in South Bend repurchased the material of Pierce Arrow. Less than 30 years after, this company disappeared to form with Nash "American". Later, some of the fans of Pierce Arrow tested, but without success, to make revive this company whose name appears today in a mausoleum in company of Horch, Maybach, Hispano-Suiza, Bugatti and Isotta-Fraschini. Tesla knew well that all this was in contradiction with the technical concepts of its time. This is why it avoided the discussions with the engineers, the theorists, or the companies, with rare exceptions. This car had been built obviously only for the pleasure, but it announces those of the future, economic, and nonpolluting. The plans of the generator for the car (with English description) are visible at this address:
